The Ferrari F187 was introduced in to the Scalextric range in 1989. Manufactured in Spain by Exin-Lines Bros SA, Barcelona it was released as race No.27 for Spain and race no.28 for the UK.

The UK version was tampo-printed, assembled and boxed at the Margate factory. This was the only release of this model in the UK.

In Spain, the model went on to be released in various colours, still made by Exin-Lines Bros under the Scalextric brand. This covered several box styles. The original red No.27 car, ref 4087, was released in the Exin-Lines Bros black and red box, in 1989, the red box with flames/sparks to the right of the Scalextric logo in 1990 as ref 8318, in the SCX (Exin-Lines) box in 1992 as ref 83180 and then finally in an SCX (Tyco [Matchbox]) box in 1994, again as 83180.
