Aston Martin ended the 1950s with further racing success, as the DBR1 team secured the 1959 World Sportscar Championship by winning races such as the Nürburgring 1000km race and the famous Le Mans 24hr.
Riding on the crest of the ‘Aston Martin’ wave, Scalextric was launching it’s model racing game. Among the first sports cars to be released as part of the Scalexric range was the Aston Martin DBR. Over the next 60 years, Scalextric would release the DB4, DB5, DBR9, DBS and Vantage V8 GT3 cars.
